Policy
Our policy team is responsible for some of WICL's most impactful work, including successfully challenging the discriminatory proposal for extended operating hours at courts, improving guidelines to tackle inappropriate court security, gathering data on the low uptake of shared parental leave, challenging discriminatory briefing policies and introducing pledges to improve retention of women in the profession.
If you are a WICL member and would like to join our policy committee, or have a concern that you would like our policy team to look at, get in touch at womenincrimlawpolicy@gmail.com. If you would like your communication to be treated anonymously, just let us know.

Race Equality Committee
The Race Equality Committee aims to unite women of colour, of all backgrounds and races, working within criminal law: to work together in dismantling clear and obvious structural racism and bias which has held women back from progressing. Our aim is to educate, empower and inspire.
Please do get in touch with us (womenincrimlaw@gmail.com) and engage with our Race Equality Committee about how we can best work towards this.

Maternity
Our maternity team aims to support mothers working in criminal law. We have run a series of virtual networking events for WICL Mums and their little ones and are always looking for ways to improve working conditions and retention.
If you have any suggestions for our Maternity team, please email wiclmaternity@gmail.com.

Wellbeing
Our wellbeing team seeks to support women to navigate working in this brilliant but tough industry, including running wellness events and signposting to potential sources of support.

Clerks
The criminal clerks room can be a very male space and WICL Clerks committee provides mentoring and networking opportunities to female criminal clerks young and more experienced. Contact us at wiclclerks@gmail.com
